"Seeing as you're the only guys offering a Mac client for LoL can't you at least try to contact Riot asking why they are trying to block Mac users from playing LoL?"
I just had an extensive chat with boompje, and he said that he has been trying to contact rioters for a while now, but to no prevail...

Ok to answer the OP. We have tried to contact Riot. Still no response.
We don't really know much else yet sorry.

I'm placing bets they're not going to release an official client this year and they're imposing a blackout to prevent a migration to DOTA2 and HoN.

Adressing the OP: How could making it impossible for us to play LoL PREVENT a migration to similar games? If anything what they are doing is fomenting players to drop LoL and find new games. The people of these forums know better but imagine the huge Mac player base who has been gradually thinned by each successive block. (I think there were 2 on 2011 and this one on 2012) We are privileged to have amazing people trying to fix the game for us but I would say around 50% of the original mac beta players have been forced to move out because they simply did not find out of the fixes.

Ok i'm going to try to explain this as clearly as possible. I spent quite a while trying to explain this issue of why Riot closed the beta and why they may be obligated to block it. Please keep in mind that a lot of this has been done by specualtion and reading between the lines of responses from Riot.
on September 6th Riot ended it's contract with Transgaming which made and had been keeping the Mac client up to date with the game. Technically speaking the Riot mac client (which is what Boompje edition and iLoL are based off of) is Transgamings property. With the contract gone Riot no longer has permission to use that client, which extends to us. I suspect that Riot is legally bound to block the Mac Client because it's not their property and they are no longer in a relationship with Transgaming.
As for the reason the contract was ended i have several ideas and it's probably a combination of them. - It was probably costing Riot a signifigant sum of money to have Transgaming maintain the client - The client Transgaming made wasn't very good and with Riots rapid patching cycle it seemed likely that performance would decrease (which is some what correct). I believe I saw a post where Riot admitted they weren't particularly happy with the quality of the client. - They honestly thought dominion would break the client and render it unplayable no matter what Transgaming does unless they make a new, better client.
boompje, YS, velkor, etc. feel free to correct me on any of these points or add to them

hey sciyth
I don't think Riot s going to release a new Mac client anytime soon seeing all new Champion releases that have been happening and I think instead of trying to contact Riot now (seeing as they aren't responding) you should try and get in touch with Transgaming. Transgaming being the ones that created the things that your boompje client uses might be able to help. Who knows they may just want get back at Riot by showing them the Mac users can still play LoL.

joely
champ releases dont have any relationship with development of new client/dev work at all. Completely different skillsets are needed meaning most likely they have 2 teams of people working on that stuff. So even if you say TAKE PEOPLE OFF OF CHAMP RELEASES NAO AND MOVE THEM TO MAC CLIENT WORK, its not gonna accomplish much except for less new content being released.
Also we dont know why TG and Riot broke apart. For all we know it couldve just simply been because Riot was like "Da ****** is this shit.. we go make our own client now cuz urs sucks".
edit: thought that might offend some ppl

I'm placing bets they're not going to release an official client this year and they're imposing a blackout to prevent a migration to DOTA2 and HoN. It would be smart on their part because if I don't have a working mac client for LoL by the time DOTA 2 comes out, I am switching.

Considering you guys dropped the size of the download significantly by removing junk code, and made the game more efficient by like 10 FPS, I'd rather be "stuck" with you guys, than either Riot or Transgaming.
