Hi! First I wanna thank Boompje and the team for an awesome work, really appreciated!
Last night I was thinking about this game and Riot, did the jan 17th patch make any noticable change in numbers for Riot? I mean did they notice that the whole mac community went down? Are we talking less then 1% difference in people not connecting or are we around the 10% mark?
It they "suffered" a big loss, they maybe would start considering that license problem again.
Again, big thanks to everyone working their ass off for us mortals!

According to this infopic, LoL has 32.5 million registered players. They also claim that at any one time, 500 000 people are playing league. Keep into account that this data is dated (November last year) and potentially biased (obviously riot is going to want to make their own numbers look good). c3333424.r24.cf0.rackcdn.com/4b7007c9b7bb5e48e5df14797caa997eafa6c0d3.jpg__560x2959_q85_crop_upscale.jpgThere is no way to know for sure how many people played lol on a mac prior to the shutdown, but this forum alone has had almost 5000 users in the last 24 hours. That's no way of knowing how many people played the game prior to the shutdown, but it's at least an indication of current interest in the state of the mac client. Basically, even if the amount of mac players was 100000 people (this a very generous number) riot would still have 32.4 million registered users after the shutdown. Even if there were 100000 users, this is only 0.00307% (approx) of the entire lol community. Keep in mind the mac player numbers are bogus, but this is more or less a demonstration that there is no way Riot would have seen a 10% loss in playerbase...

btw is there any overview of how many users actually use either clients? (approximate number of people playing LoL on Mac) Based on the number of downloads on Boompje as well as the number of forum users here, as well as an analysis of the number of downvotes on Tamat's post, I have come to the conclusion that we have a minimum of 50,000 users using the mac client and a max of about 180,000. On iLoL i'd say about 400-500 users - although i'd need Boompje to confirm this. @ys, you don't have the numbers ^^ Also, the max is most likely a lot lower. The Min is higher. And btw I wouldnt say that Riot has 32.5 Million registered users - well apparently they do, but those 32.5 million arent "unique" (so there are a lot smurfs) and I guess a lot of those are inactive. So I would use the monthly players number in the graphic as the playerbase (11.5 Million and even this might be a bit to high)

And in terms of mac gamers, the Riot beta client had minimal publicity and was closed to invitations. You had to dig around to find the download and it was even harder for Europeans who had to edit the patcher files for the client to update to EU. So I wouldn't expect many casual mac gamers in those figures.
Plus with all the hassle in September, never mind the last four weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if the mac demographic had been steadily decreasing to those hardcore few of us.

Also keep in mind that it isn't like mac players couldn't play. I for one just reinstalled my bootcamp LOL version and kept playing. I'll switch back ilol once it is released, but it isn't like I stopped playing. I bet most mac gamers did like me.
